Personal growth and development is all common sense. You do not need a degree in physics to understand that active progress and improvement in the key areas of life will serve you well.  The Pursuit of Growth teaches active progress and growth in 11 key focus areas of life are essential for joy, accomplishment, and peace of mind.

  • Your character and behavior
  • Your attitude
  • Your confidence in yourself
  • Your relationships with family, friends, & community
  • Your love and service towards others
  • Your mental and physical health
  • Your professional work
  • Your financial literacy
  • Your commitment to lifelong learning
  • Your hobbies and experiences
  • Your faith in God

Think of a goal you wish to accomplish this week, month, or year.  I guarantee your goal will fall into one of these 11 focus areas.

Most people claim to understand the importance of goal setting to attain a better life, but in fact, according to research very few people actually create goals.

A simple online search will reveal numerous articles and research studies sharing statistics that nearly  80 percent of people never set goals for themselves.

Even more surprising, of the 20 percent of the population that does set goals, roughly 70 percent fail to achieve the goals they have set for themselves.  Many of the studies I’ve read share even lower success rates.

For the 70% of people who set goals and fail, this simple message is for you.

You don’ fail to achieve your goals because of lack of talent or skills.  You fail to achieve your goals because you fail to build the right plans for success.  You can read every self-improvement book, attend professional conferences, follow your favorite mentors on social media, and watch YouTube success videos for eternity.  This research is all wasted without a plan and application.

This is my suggestion, advice, or attempt at sharing wisdom.  I want you to set and achieve one goal before you attempt to achieve any other goals.

What is this goal?  It’s simple a question.  “How do I create a plan to achieve my goals?”

Research, study, learn, and create an actionable plan and process for how to create the purpose, structure, habits, accountability, sacrifices, and precise details for how to accomplish your goals.  Knowing how to achieve goals is the foundation for achieving goals.  Very few people take the time to plan and prepare for how to turn their vision into an accomplishment.  Instead, they follow a foolish process of ready, fire, aim.  It’s no surprise that they miss their mark, or more often than not, they quit.  Again, it’s all commons sense!  But, even common sense is useless without the right structure to support its intent.

Are you tired of failing to achieve your goals?  There are numerous ways you can create plans and processes for accomplishing your goals.  You can start by researching this topic online, or, identify a friend or mentor who can help you get started.   Perhaps best of all, if you want to skip the personal research and take advantage of an 11-step actionable plan that was already created to teach individuals how to achieve their goals, you are in luck!
